Connecting Nature and Education
Ecological Transformation of the Urbano Alves de Souza Pereira Engenheiro School
Connecting Nature and Education is a project in development, created in collaboration with Urbano Alves de Souza Pereira Engenheiro School in Taubaté. The primary objective of this project is to establish a meaningful connection between nature and education by transforming the school space into a sustainable, educational, and inspiring environment
Mission
Caring Without Borders is committed to creating a sustainable, interconnected world where education goes beyond the traditional curriculum, communities thrive, and socio-environmental and economic restoration is a shared responsibility. We are more than an organisation; we are a global movement dedicated to promoting positive change, fostering socio-environmental sustainability, and empowering individuals, communities, and organisations on a global scale. We are here to ensure that knowledge is a force for good and create job opportunities for students, educators, and communities worldwide. Our vision is a world where every individual has the tools to thrive independently while contributing to a sustainable planet.
Project Activities
Conduct an assessment of the existing space and identify opportunities for creating a sustainable and educational environment.
Plan and implement a permaculture design, considering principles of energy efficiency, water conservation, use of local materials, and soil regeneration.
Carefully select native plant species that benefit pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and other insects.
Create recreational and nature contemplation areas, including themed gardens, and spaces for interaction with local fauna.
Organise workshops, lectures, and educational activities for students, faculty, and the community, addressing topics such as permaculture, which includes environmental conservation, and other sustainable practices.
Continuously monitor the project, assessing its impact on local biodiversity, community engagement, and socio-environmental education promotion.
Benefits
Preservation of local biodiversity and promotion of environmental conservation.
Attraction and conservation of essential pollinators for ecosystem health.
Improvement of the school socio-environment, providing an educational, inspiring, and sustainable space.
Community awareness of the importance of nature conservation and sustainable practices.
Promotion of local culture and traditional knowledge related to plants and biodiversity.
Opportunities for hands-on and experiential learning for students, fostering a direct connection with nature and stimulating their interest in socio-environmental and economic issues.
Strengthening partnerships between the school, local experts, research institutions, and civil society organisations, creating a support network for sustainability promotion.
We Embrace Healthy Eating
Our shared mission with every partner, whether an organisation, individual, or community, is to create a regenerative food ecosystem that caters to the dietary preferences and tastes of the entire community. We understand that embracing healthy eating habits can be a challenge, especially for young students. That's why we are committed to designing the food forest based on a diet that the entire community will enjoy.
Imagine a vibrant, thriving space where students can connect with nature, learn about different plants, and other ecosystems and cultivate a deep appreciation for the food they consume. The food forest will not only provide nourishment but also serve as an educational hub, fostering a profound understanding of sustainable practices and the importance of healthy living.
“As science notes, it takes energy in the form of food for the human mind and body to function at its best. Without proper nutrition, it is difficult to think, learn, and engage in the activities necessary for personal growth and development. Additionally, promoting healthy eating habits can improve the health outcomes of the communities we serve and help individuals live their best lives.”
“At Caring Without Borders, we are committed to empowering individuals and communities to take charge of their health by providing tips, resources, and guidance on how to make healthy food choices and eat well, no matter their circumstances. By emphasising the importance of healthy eating, we aim to promote sustainable development and create a brighter, more equitable future for all."
Connecting Nature and Education is a project that aims to transform the Urbano Alves de Souza Pereira Engenheiro Public School into an exemplary space that integrates education and socio-environmental restoration. Through the implementation of a permaculture design, the creation of habitats for local fauna, and the promotion of educational programs, we aim not only to restore and preserve nature but also to inspire and engage the local community in adopting regenerative practices.

🌎 Degraded Spaces to Restore in Brazil
We are currently fundraising to secure this 53,380 m² (13.2-acre) piece of land in Taubaté, Brazil, to transform it into a thriving ecosystem and learning hub for regeneration.
Once secured, students will lead the restoration, planting native trees, restoring soil health, and creating sustainable water and food systems. This space will serve as a living classroom, empowering people through hands-on regenerative education, biodiversity restoration, and sustainable land management.
